Fulham escapes defeat with late equalizer against West Ham
Fulham’s late push pays off
Fulham pulled off a remarkable comeback by holding West Ham to a 1-1 draw to share points at Craven Cottage in a Premier League clash on Tuesday. West Ham took the lead thanks to Michail Antonio’s goal in the 20th minute. The Hammers looked set to claim all three points against Fulham before substitute Manor Solomon equalized in the 89th minute.
Fulham with a late surge
Fulham manager Marco Silva sparked life into his team after bringing on Solomon and Willian in the second half as they searched for an equalizer. Solomon, on loan from Shakhtar Donetsk, made an instant impact as he latched onto a loose ball and fired it past West Ham goalkeeper Alphonse Areola to rescue a point for the Cottagers.
Missed chances cost West Ham
West Ham missed several chances to extend their lead before Fulham’s late push. Jarrod Bowen and Gianluca Scamacca were guilty of squandering opportunities to put the game to bed. West Ham manager David Moyes expressed his disappointment after the game, saying, "We should have won the game, we had the chances to finish it off."
Points shared in London derby
The result was a fair reflection of the match, with both teams having spells of dominance. Fulham had the better chances in the second half to secure a win but ultimately had to settle for a point. The draw leaves Fulham in eighth place in the Premier League table, while West Ham remains in 10th place.
