The Seattle Storm's Breanna Stewart has been named the 2023 WNBA MVP, edging out the Connecticut Sun's Alyssa Thomas and the Las Vegas Aces' Aja Wilson in a close three-way race. The announcement was made on September 26, 2023, at a ceremony in New York City.
Stewart averaged 21.8 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game during the regular season, leading the Storm to a league-best 29-5 record. She also shot 47.6% from the field and 38.8% from three-point range.
In the playoffs, Stewart continued to play at a high level, averaging 23.3 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game. She helped the Storm reach the WNBA Finals, where they lost to the Las Vegas Aces in three games.
Stewart's MVP award is her second, having previously won the award in 2018. She is now tied with Lisa Leslie for the most MVP awards in WNBA history.
